Youth Music Theatre UK was founded in 2003 by a group of experienced and committed directors, administrators, pastoral staff, young people and parents who were determined to create a dynamic, vibrant and participatory company which could bring together young people from around the UK in music theatre projects.

Now, we are the UK's biggest provider of musical theatre projects for young people, and we continue to go from strength to strength each year. In 2010, we presented six new music theatre productions around the UK, ran seven Summer Skills residential workshops, and delivered numerous outreach projects.

All of our work involves young people creating, developing and devising work themselves, supported by professional directors, choreographers and musical directors. Sometimes we ask a writer or composer to write a piece specially, but young people will still develop the piece with them.
